B's Dad |
"If all goes well, this is the last letter I'll write till we come home. We plan to start home a week from Tues. I have no idea when we'll get there for B's Dad is going to Barnes Hosp. on the 12th and if he's still there we will stop to see him. We plan to stay with you this time and at B's in Aug. We have to start home the 18th or 19th for summer school starts on the 20th.
This has been a busy week and Mon. has had us mixed up all week. We took our supper to the lake on Mon. and had lots of fun. Tues. night we went to the banquet and it was a lovely banquet. They all seemed pleased at B's talk on N. England. We entertained students one evening and have big groups (30-35) invited for three nights next week. If they all should come we'll sure have a houseful.
We're just going to stop house hunting for awhile and see if anything comes up. Then we'll advertise after summer school starts.
I'll find out about the color of the china one of these days but I'm sure it's white.
My tablecloth is all stretched and ready to use. There are stretchers here and it wasn't such a big job after all. It is snow white and real nice but I'd never make another one.
Lots of love,
B, Bonnie & Bobby
NOTE from Ann: Bonnie's parents' house in town was finally finished by the summer of 1949. The watercolor, painted by their great granddaughter, and evocative of a summer evening when one might be spending the night with grandparents is in a style reminiscent of a children's book illustration.
The Taylor Home by Laura Taylor Kennedy |
What a lovely, eye-catching watercolor. I like the abundant use of black, that's not overly common in such painting, but really helps add a lot of depth to the image - almost as though someone hand tinted an old B&W photograph.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your lovely comment on my garage sale finds post, dear Ann, I really hope you're having a beautiful Sunday and the month ahead will abound with joy and sunshine for you.
