September 18, 1948 Scoots & Rolls, Cereal & Fruit and Time Sure Flies

Dear Mother & Daddy,

"Bobby is playing in the playpen on the porch so I'll make these few minutes count.  He still is good but has to be watched so closely for he tries to pull up and can travel one way or another.  He doesn't crawl but scoots & rolls from one place to another.  He climbs out of the carriage, walker & teeter-babe so the playpen is just about the safest place for him.  We're really making use of the walker.  B oiled it up & it works fine.  My neighbor & I take the babies & go walking most every day.  It's fun when one has company.

Bobby was cross a day or two but has one of his front teeth just coming through the gum so I guess that was it.

This street really came to life this week when school started.  So many students room on this street.  B has worked hard at testing and registration & will be glad when classes start on Monday.  There is the Tomato Festival going on too & they have the street full of carnival.

We never did get tomatoes to can and I don't know whether we will or not.  We still have boxes in the basement to unpack.  The only reason we haven't written to Beulah is that I haven't had time.  I need to write so many letters to friends in New Britain and am ashamed that I haven't.

I don't remember even talking about Thanksgiving plans.  I heard Rosalynn say she would have the dinner but I don't know whether she meant all of us or who.  We won't be home till late Wed. so if we don't all eat together Thurs. maybe we could have one dinner Thurs. & the other Fri. or Sat.  There is still lots of time to plan.

My permanent is still one of the best ones I've ever had and I still like it.

My machine hasn't come yet but it hasn't been but a week.  I can hardly wait.

Bobby has changed a lot.  As soon as B unpacks his photo stuff we'll send some pictures.  He eats bacon and egg for breakfast now with his cereal & fruit.  Seems like I can't keep him filled up.  He still loves dogs.  We are talking about getting one but the prices stop us.  They want $25-$35 for the blond or red ones.  I don't want a black one.

I'll bet the house looks nice with the porch finished.  It will look better with the driveway, too.

Hope you're fine.  Bobby will be 8 months tomorrow.  Time sure flies."

               Lots of love,

                     B, Bonnie & Bobby
