Dear Mother & Daddy,
"No letter today and I'm hoping you are all fine and that it will come tomorrow.
We had a grand celebration yesterday at Bobby's birthday party. Toni and her kids and Jim and Eve with their kids and Marge all came. We had a chiffon cake and ice cream. The kids all really had a time. We got Bobby a big wagon and he has really enjoyed it. We finally found an aluminum one and it should last as long as our family will need one.
Ann has coughed so hard the last three days and this morning she had a little fever so I called the Dr. He said she had bronchitis which is all over town but he thought she was over the worst part. She has fussed off and on for two nights and he said she probably had an earache. He gave her a shot of penicillin and we have to give her some more in liquid form. She seems better this evening.
Next week is exam week so that will be hectic. I always dread them because it is rush, rush, rush with tests and grading.
Monday is Lynn's birthday so we'll go over there for a party if the kids are all right.
We have had two dinner invitations this week but it is too hard to get things settled in time so we just said we couldn't come.

I tried again to find the print for Bobby's quilt but couldn't match it."

Dear Mother, Daddy and Grandma,
"I'm at Wheeler's sitting with the kids while Jim and Eve are over at school. B is home with our kids. They have been pretty good lately but I am afraid Ann is taking another cold. I don't see why she has to have so many. Since she has felt good I could almost see her grow. I'll certainly give Spring a welcome reception!
The weather is terrific. It was 16 below this morning and we have a big snow this morning on the ground. Mr. Dorland keeps our apartment about 80 both day and night. That is really too warm but is better than being cold.
The springs in our living room couch are beginning to give way and so we have ordered a new living room set. We knew it would cost almost as much as a new one to get the old one rebuilt so decided we'd better do something about it while they are still available. We got a Restonia and the couch makes a full sized bed. The furniture dealer that we have dealt with all of the time took us to the factory (they are made in Bloomington) so we could pick out the style and color. We were told out there that they were having trouble getting frames and upholstery for furniture. We picked out a red (bright) Lawson style (like yours). I want to make a dark green slipcover for our easy chair and foot stool to replace the striped covers.
I am still hunting a bedspread but haven't had much time to shop for one.
I have to entertain the Education Wives and I would like to get my house fixed up before they come. We plan to do some painting next summer if we don't find another place by then.
I just finished my first hat. I had an old tan thing so I dyed it navy and changed the brim. With a veil and bunch of red rosebuds it looks real cute. I didn't expect it to ever look like anything. I have ordered some pink stuff from the teacher and plan to make one like the red bonnet in the last issue of Good Housekeeping.
The Good Housekeeping, with many pages of hats to make. I'm not sure which "bonnet" Bonnie made... |
I hope you are all fine. Your letter hasn't come yet. I guess the strikes have held it up."
Lots of love,
Bonnie
