"Well, my vacation is just about over. I have to go back Tuesday and I have really enjoyed my time at home. I've read quite a bit and crocheted a lot. My tablecloth is growing. I have 50 blocks done and that's about 1/4 of it.
We've been having wonderful weather. It is very cool and I have to wear a sweater most of the time but I really like it. I feel so much more like working when it's cool. Last night I made hot rolls for supper and they were certainly good.
Last Saturday night B brought a Jewish boy home with him. He works with him. We went downtown and ate supper, then went to a show. The boy is awfully nice and we like him a lot.
Sunday we took a trolley out to one of the city parks. The rose garden was in full bloom and certainly beautiful. There's a real high hill in the park and we climbed up to the top. There are benches up there and it is so high you can see all over New Haven and out to the ocean. They say you can see Long Island on a clear day but it was too hazy Sunday.
The Dames met Wednesday. We played games and it wasn't as much fun as usual. I have charge of the next meeting so we're going on a picnic since I can't have them come to the apartment. They wouldn't have any place to sit. Ha!
Today I met a girl and we ate downtown, then did some shopping. I bought a white purse. It is plastic and washable and I think it's very nice. I forgot to tell you that I bought my salad forks.
B got a raise and now he makes $36.40 a week and will get time and a half for overtime. He will have to work Monday but he doesn't mind.
Every few days I see something new. Yesterday there was an organ grinder on our street. It was just like what you read about--only he didn't have a monkey.
Beulah and Nobel will be riding in style now, won't they? I'm really glad they got a better car. They can haul so much more.
We got some cabbage yesterday. It really tasted good because we hadn't had any in months.
The Navy is moving in and the place is seething with sailors and soldiers.
It's about bedtime so write soon."
Worlds of love,
B & Bonnie
