July 14, 1958 Back from Missouri and Lulu's Heart Just Stopped

Dear Mother & Daddy,

"There isn't a postcard in the house.  We got home about 7:15 after a nice trip.  The trip thru Meramec Caverns took a long time--we were inside the cave about 1-1/2 hrs.  It was so cold in there but we enjoyed it.  It was well worth seeing but we were tired--the walk thru is long with real steep stairs in places.

Ann & I went to S.S. this morning & we've worked much of the day.  We got all the plants out.  I spent much of the afternoon with Etta.  Lulu's heart just stopped one night & her funeral was yesterday morning.  I had expected her to be home from the hospital.  She had seemed fine in the early evening Thurs. and everyone (including the doctor) was surprised.

We enjoyed our stay with you and will plan on your coming this fall."
