"Bobby wistfully said, "I wish I could see Lynn". Went for walk into the mountains & took a few pictures. Gathered wild flowers including goldenrod--the seemingly universal flower. Brays came for supper and stayed awhile to visit afterwards."

"Helped Teruko-san wash. Wringer still not fixed. She cooked sukiyaki for supper. Was real good! Letter to Toni."
SUKIYAKI (Serves 5)
Prepare a sauce of 1 cup shoyu, 3/4 cups sugar, 3 cups water or water and sake mixture. Add sauce between ingredients as each cooks a little bit.
On high heat, rub pan with beef suet until well-coated and leave 2-3 pieces of suet in pan. Sear 1-1/2 lb. sirloin cut into thin strips, move to edge of pan. Pour on a little sauce. Working quickly, add 1/2 lb. green onions,cook a short time,pour on sauce, add 1/2 lb. fresh spinach, cook briefly adding some sauce, add 1/5 lb. mushrooms, 1/4 lb. sliced bamboo shoots, 1 can yam threads and chunks of bean curd, cooking briefly between each addition. Pour over any remaining sauce. Serve and continue adding ingredients to pan as guests are served. A slightly beaten egg is given to each person for dipping.
