February 14, 1953 The Misplaced Letter, The Painting Class, The Doctor and The Valentines

Ann's valentines to her grandparents

Dear Mother & Daddy,

"I've misplaced your letter but maybe I can find it before I'm through writing.  I haven't accomplished anything much this week.  Ann's dress is all done but the handwork and it really is cute.  Maybe I told you it was red with tiny white dots and I put a white yoke on it--and white collar.  Then I made over an old skirt that has been too big for a long time and it is done except for handwork.  Today I've spent most of my time ripping up an old suit of B's to make myself one.  It has two pairs of pants so I think I'll have plenty of material but it really is a job just getting the thing ripped up.

Bob didn't have school today.  The teachers were at a meeting so they all took their Valentines yesterday.  He came home with a bag full and was so thrilled.  They, he and Ann, had more in the mail today and they loved their books.  They didn't have either one of them and both of them enjoyed both books.

My water color painting class met the first time last night but we didn't do anything except talk over materials we'd need and looked at some watercolor paintings that other people had done.  The teacher is the same one I had in the Xmas card class.

I'm glad the doctor thought Daddy was in good shape.  Who is this McGinty and did he come to the house?  Couldn't you go to the office?  You didn't tell a thing that he said about you, Mother.

We had thought we might go to Peoria for fun tomorrow but Bobby is taking a cold so we'll have to wait and see how he is in the morning.  I want to look for material for a spring coat.  After I looked at the prices on coats I decided I'd make one.  I may change my mind when I see the prices of material.

The kids cut out the Valentines for you.  Ann got in a hurry and helped hers along a bit.

Hope you both are fine."

                      Lots of love,

                                 Bonnie
