NOTE: While I was visiting my Grandparents in Richland, I had a nagging pain which turned out to be appendicitis. After a quick visit to the E.R. in the next small town, my aunt & uncle called their Dr. who met us at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, about 80 miles from Richland. It seemed a long and bumpy ride. Mom & Dad made the trip to the hospital even though it seemed unnecessary to me. Bob K. was in Oklahoma at a meeting and by the time he got to the hospital we had quite a gathering of family! All and all it was an adventure, my appendix was removed and everything was dandy.
When I came across the Sylvania ad above, I had a good chuckle. My grandmother loved cameos and I can't remember a time when she wasn't wearing one. In her later years during each visit, she would offer jewelry to Mom who would always say, "Now you keep that! You're still enjoying your jewelry and you should enjoy it as long as you can." Some of the cameos are pictured here.
