I found the card and quote from Tennyson very interesting. As you probably know, Tennyson was born in Lincolnshire, about 25 miles from Cleethorpes, in the village of Somersby. He was educated at Louth Grammar School, King Edward IV and both my grandchildren now also attend that school. So you could say, in a very remote & roundabout way, we have connections to Alfred Lord Tennyson.
I was not aware that Tennyson was born in Lincolnshire! Is his home still there and marked for tourists to see? I visited the school's website and I see that they have just had their Christmas concert. How delightful! I'm sure that it is an excellent school in all ways and your grandchildren are fortunate to have the opportunities that a fine education can bring.
My mother had a whole pad of cards with Tennyson quotes and I wish I still had them.
