Dear Mother,
"There isn't much to write this week. We got here late Tuesday evening just in time to get a quick supper before B had to go to his first meeting. I brought a book and my embroidery so I have had plenty to entertain myself with. The hotel is located in the heart of the city so I can browse to my heart's content.
Things in the stores aren't any different from those at home so I didn't buy much. I keep looking for a stamped round tablecloth but no one has them. The needlework departments seem to concentrate on needlepoint but I don't think you could do that. It is too hard on the eyes.The weather has been awfully cold since we got here but the sun finally came out today.
There is a huge fountain in the center of the city and I'll bet it is beautiful in the summer when it is operating.
B's meetings run from 8:00 in the morning until around 6:00. I haven't even seen him for lunch but I've been sleeping late every morning and have had a good rest.
The kids should all be at home when we get there tomorrow afternoon. I left a list of groceries for Bob to get so we'll have milk and such. Bob & Ann were going to start to Illinois after he gets off work today and stay with friends in Columbus, Ohio tonight. Ann has a dental appointment Monday and may have to have her wisdom teeth pulled. They don't bother her but a Philadelphia dentist told her they should come out. We're having our own dentist look at them. She & Bob won't get to Richland but will go to Marshall part of the time. It's too bad we are all so scattered that they have to spend so much time traveling.
Bob & Pat will see you probably before you get this. They are looking forward to coming.
Hope you are fine. I did tell you that we won't be coming on Good Friday, didn't I? We're sorry but of course we have to be home when Ann can come."

- The fountain your mom referred to is the Tyler Davidson Fountain, first installed in 1871. It was featured on the intro to "WKRP in Cincinnati" TV show. Pigeons found it a convenient hangout with all that that entailed.

- Newport, KY, across the river from Cincy, had been cleaned up for ten years by the time your folks visited. Prior to that, it deservedly was called "Sin City of the South" or "Little Mexico" owing to the gambling and other naughtiness that transpired there.

Well, first of all, thanks for taking up the slack since there "isn't much to write this week"! The green pepper/mango thing is pretty strange, maybe Springer should run for president with the rest of the TV gang, I loved WKRP, 3 cheers for the justice system on behalf of art, glad to learn that a once blighted area has come back in better shape and I've never known anything about Newport, KY until now. Thanks for all of the news about Cincinnati!
