November 25, 1967 The Good Time, The Short Time, The Milk and The Bread


Dear Mother & Daddy,

"We made good time so had our lunch in Springfield and were home a little after 1:30. The weather here is about like it was there so we are glad for that.

I just unloaded all the wonderful goodies Daddy had packed and Ann was amazed at the big, brown eggs. We never see brown ones at all. The pie wasn't shaken one bit and Ann was real glad to see the onions. She really likes them.


We enjoyed being home and seeing all of you even if the time was short.


 I must go get some milk and bread so bye for now."

NOTE:  Interesting photos below about Jackie Kennedy's lifelong wish to visit the ancient stone ruins from the 15th century Khmer civilization--In spite of the visit, Cambodia's leader, Prince Sihanouk, had not changed his opposition to the role of the U.S. in Vietnam. I recall that there was much news coverage about Sihanouk throughout the 1960s and 70s, including his artistic and musical endeavors. Apparently he treated Jackie to some of his own musical compositions, including the one below:
