March 27, 1966 The Green Grass, The Trip, The Sewing Machine and The Good Visit

McCall's magazine

Dear Mother & Daddy,

"It's a lovely, sunny day but rather snappy. We've been having a bit of snow and cooler weather but the grass is green.

We have been out to dinner with some friends who have a son in Yale. He is home for spring vacation and it was fun to talk with him. Bob still hasn't heard but doesn't have too much longer to wait.

If things go as we plan we are coming home next Sunday on our way to Memphis. We'll leave Richland Tuesday morning for Memphis. We still don't have the details of the trip so I don't know yet what time we'll have to meet the bus. If something should come up at school that B can't leave we'll let you know. It will be sometime Sunday afternoon.

Ann is fine again but didn't go back to school until Wed. afternoon so she wasn't able to play in the festival. She was disappointed but simply wasn't able. The Dr. said it was the flu and gave her some medicine but I don't think it did much good.

My sewing machine stays open but I don't get much done. I'm not home long enough. I never did order my coat and probably won't. Ann needs one too but there hasn't been any time to get one.

This isn't much of a letter but we'll have to have a good visit when we get home. Hope both of you are fine."

                      Lots of love,

                            Bonnie

  1. Interesting as usual and I found the comment "rather snappy" to describe the weather very amusing. I'll need to remember that! In a future 40's boy blog I have an interesting story about a sewing machine but not for a while yet.

  2. I'll be anxious to read your post about the sewing machine, and I can be patient in spite of what you might have learned about me as a kid!
