April 9, 1966 The Crowning, The Suit, The Connections and Back to Normal

Dear Mother & Daddy,

"It seems like a month since we were home. We drove to Hardy, Arkansas for lunch Tuesday and while we were eating we saw B's Uncle Oscar go by. Aunt Ione was in the beauty shop and they insisted that we go see where they lived. They live in that Cherokee Village development and they just had to show us around. We enjoyed it but it took an extra hour. Anyway, we got to Memphis about 4:00 and checked into a motel just a short walk from the bus station. We went to bed early but didn't sleep much. Polly & Ann giggled and were too excited to sleep much and kept me awake even if they were in another room. I could have crowned them. We walked to the bus station a little before 3:00 a.m. and the group was already there--got in an hour earlier than planned and they left an hour earlier than planned. So we were back in bed in less than a half hour and did get some sleep then. We shopped around the next morning and started back to Normal about 2:00 in the afternoon. It was almost midnight when we got home.

Ann got some school clothes--cotton things and I got a beige hat. The girls had fun looking in the stores and so did we. We were sure tired yesterday, though--I was anyway. We haven't talked to Polly--she may be still sleeping.

Dot was pleased Daddy could wear the suit and brought another one over. It is not so new but looks nice and is a summer suit. I'll try to get it mailed next week sometime. It is all cleaned and looks ready to wear.

It is still cold and it was cold in Memphis, too. I hope it has warmed up in Florida so the kids will have a good time. Connections from Memphis were pretty good. Bob may have to wait a few hours but he will either come all the way to Bloomington on the train or bus or we may have to go to Champaign to get him. He will call us when he gets in.

I have been working on Ann's yellow suit. The skirt is all done and she's going to wear it with the sweater tonight. The jacket is pretty well along but I had to go after some lining and interfacing this afternoon and that delayed it.

Things are pretty quiet with all the students gone but B says he's getting caught up a little at the office.

Hope you both are fine. I though both of you looked so good."

                      Lots of love,

                            Bonnie
