March 28, 1974 The Shivering People, The Artificial Protein, The Easter Dress and Stuff

Dear Mother & Daddy,

"I hope tomorrow will be a nice Easter day for you.  We are still having winter with snow & rain most every day and it stays real cold.  A winter coat still feels good so if things don't change today a lot of people will be shivering tomorrow. We plan to go to the sunrise service at our church at 6:30 in the morning.  Polly is being baptized.  She has gone with us for over a year now.

I had hoped Bob would do a little yard work this week but the weather hasn't been fit and there hasn't been time.  He and I spent most of three days on a paper he was writing to enter in a Ford Future Scientists contest.  It is a report of the experiments he has done this year in trying to make an artificial protein. This has never been done before (successfully) by anyone.  The project isn't finished but he wrote up what he has done so far and told of the experiments he is planning.   He'll keep on with it and write it again for next year's contest.  He had some charts & a photo, & some drawings included.  His teachers & all of us will be thrilled if he even gets an honorable mention for he is the first student from this school to enter this.

Ann fell while she was running, Wed. morning and hurt a knee so she's been wearing an elastic bandage & hobbling around.  It didn't look bad but hurt so much that I took her to the Dr.  He put the bandage on and told her to wear it several days.

I've spent the rest of the week on Ann's suit & it is ready to hem.  We had bought the material for her to make up in Home Ec. but she hasn't yet finished the first dress she started.  She wanted this for Easter so I did it.

Malcolm has asked Bob to go to Wisconsin again this summer.  Malcolm's dad has to go to a meeting and there is only one time when they can go to Wisconsin so it will mean that Bob will have clothes all packed for that trip & go right on with them the day after we get home from Europe.  He is excited about it.

I have a lot to do today so I'd better get at it.  We'll make Easter baskets at S.S. tomorrow & I have to get that stuff ready too."

                    Lots of love,

                         Bonnie

  2. You should plan a retirees reunion--meet in Minocqua, take the fishing gear, catch a few snakes, etc.:-)
