June 7, 1963 The Senior Reception, The Prom, The Graduation, The Alumni Luncheon and The End of the School Year

Good Housekeeping, April, 1963
Dear Mother & Daddy,

"This is going to be a busy week-end but the kids finished the school year yesterday.   Bob is still asleep or still in bed, anyway.  Sometimes he just stays upstairs & reads when he has a free morning.

We all went to the high school class night program last night.  The classes all sit together & after the seniors leave the auditorium the other classes move up into the next class's seats.  It is real impressive.

The senior reception is this afternoon, the prom is tonight, graduation is tomorrow morning, & the alumni luncheon is at noon.  That's the end of this school year.

We found Ann a pink short formal that is real cute.  It was too long so it took a morning to shorten it but that was better than making one.  It has a 6" false hem so I had to take that off, cut off the skirt & then put the hem back on it.  My lace dress is finally finished & I'll wear it to the prom.

I can't half write this morning for some reason.  I have an article in a piano teachers' magazine this month but probably won't get anything for it.  I sent it in Feb. & had never heard from them till Ann's piano teacher called me to say the article was in the magazine.

Did I tell you B was getting bifocals?  They have been ordered for 3 weeks & he called to see about them but was told that it took a long time to make them since they are so thick.

Bob has about ten days before summer school.  Ann isn't going.  After camp she is going to take horseback riding lessons & maybe some violin lessons so she can play in orchestra next year.

We don't know where we'll go for our vacation.  The kids can't agree on where to go so we may not do much of anything.

All of us have been practicing a little golf in the back yard but our course can't be opened this year if it doesn't rain.  Everything is terribly dry.  It has rained all around us but we don't get it.

Ann is going on a S.S. picnic this afternoon & has to take the relishes.  I must get to the store so I'll say bye for now."

                       Lots of love,

                             Bonnie

  1. What timelessly pretty dresses! I don't usually wear 60s fashions, but do readily admit to having a real love of many styles from the early years of the decade in particular, including feminine dresses with full skirts like charmers. That is such a special photo to have.

    Big hugs,
    ♥ Jessica

*PS* I hope that the summer is going fabulously for you, dear Ann. Thank you very much for the absolutely beautiful birthday wishes on today's cheesecake post, my sweet friend. ♥
