May 27, 1962 Excited About the Organ, Another Blue Ribbon and Not Enough Time

Dear Mother & Daddy,

"We had some rain last night, at last.  Everything was so dry & I had watered some of the new grass (where we patched the yard) only yesterday.  Things look green & fresh today.  The peonies are out & are so pretty.  My iris are still blooming & the climber is beginning to bloom.  It is so straggly we are going to cut it back to the ground when it blooms.

We're getting excited about the organ.  It was to be shipped yesterday so may be here next week.  B hopes it comes before Wed. so he'll have that day to look it over.  I don't think he'll be able to touch it till school is out, though.  We had a letter from the organ co. & they sent us a sample of the standard walnut finish.  We have about decided to get that.  Then we'd always be able to match it.  I would like it blond but that is so out of style you can't even get nice furniture in blond anymore.  Everything is walnut or mahogany now.  Since we moved the T.V. & the couch from the study to the basement we haven't put anything in the study.  It will be our organ workroom for awhile.

Bob's room when to Chicago yesterday.  They went to a zoo & to the Museum of Science and Industry.  Bob really had a good time.  He got another blue ribbon on his bowl & candlesticks in the state industrial arts show.  He is real proud & so am I.  Several teachers have threatened to take them away from him.

The children had a music program Wed. night but I had to go alone.  B had another meeting.  He gave a commencement talk at Malden, Ill. last night.  It is almost 100 miles away so he was late getting home.  The principal there had gone to Drury.

Ann has been sick again but seems all right now.  I'm going to take her to the Dr. for a complete check-up after school is out.

I think it would be real nice if you could go to the Iowa wedding.  Take Aunt Cliffie & go.  Don't wait for us to come home.  We haven't the faintest idea when we'll get to come.

Bob finished the lamp out of a cypress knee he got in Florida & it is real nice.  He has done some real nice things in shop this year.  I think he has a lot of Taylor in him for he sure has Daddy's patience when it comes to rubbing & polishing wood.  We'll put the lamp in the basement as soon as we can get a shade for it.

I must stop.  There are so many things I need to do & not enough time.  I must write Jerry a birthday note so bye for now."

                     Lots of love,

                           Bonnie
