"It is a beautiful sunny day but blue cold and deep snow everywhere. It doesn't look like it could be March and spring is coming closer. I can hardly wait. Mrs. Hodge told us to cut some pussy willows but the snow is too deep in the backyard to get them.
I had a real nice birthday. We had planned to go out for supper but Ann was sick so we had a nice time here at home. I got lots of nice cards. The kids gave me some stockings and B got me some house shoes. We are going to try to trade our piano for a spinet if we can ever get to St. Louis. I wrote to the place where we got this one and they wrote me about a walnut one but I want a blonde so we'll keep waiting. That's what I wanted for my birthday but I'm in no hurry. We can't get to St. Louis very soon anyway the way the weather has been. We couldn't find anything here and think we can, if we wait, in St. Louis.
Ann is fine now. She coughs a little and B coughs but all of us keep getting better. My arm still aches a little in the morning but I'm fine otherwise.
Beulah was sick when she wrote my birthday card. I hope she is better. I thought I'd get it answered but haven't yet. I'm so behind with everything. I had a card from Maude today. Granny doesn't seem to get any better or worse. She will be 97 on March 25.
B goes to Chicago tomorrow until Wednesday. The train leaves before noon so it will be hustle and bustle around here to get to S.S. and him ready to go. I must stop and read my S.S. lesson for there won't be any time in the morning.

I love that Safeway gave its stamp of approval to "Truly Fine" nylons. They've always (or at least as far back as I can recall) sold hosiery at the Safeway stores here in Canada, too, though I don't remember seeing this brand in my lifetime. That's such a charming, fun early 60s illustration (and note, no seems any longer on those stockings).

Jessica, it's great to hear from you. Truly Fine brand was the store's own budget brand, but available only for a few years in the late 50s through mid-60s. I like their ads.
