July 30, 1955 Too Hot to Move, Cooling Off with Disney and The Three-day Measles

Dear Mother & Daddy,

"It's too hot to move and has been for days.  We all took our supper and went to the lake to swim again yesterday and hope to go again tomorrow.  I haven't been getting much housework done since it has been so hot.  I try to get the most done early and then not do much more.  It took me two mornings to iron.

Toni and I took the children to see a Disney movie this afternoon.  That helped keep us cool for a while.

Three day measles are around town so I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't pick it up.  Janis had them but they didn't make her sick at all.  They don't have any idea where she got them.

Bob has one more week of school and B has two more weeks.  We'll have a month then before school starts again but we don't know just when we'll come home.  We expect our friends from Japan in mid-August.  Then if it's awfully hot we may wait for it to cool off a bit.

There just isn't any news so I'll stop and let B mail this."

                    Lots of love,

                          Bonnie

  1. Oh wow 'Lady and The Tramp'. I love just about all of the Walt Disney movies. 50 years later and my 6 grand-daughters are experiencing the same enjoyment I had.

  2. Those were great movies, weren't they! I'm always glad to hear when kids like some of the same things we experienced as kids--same movies and books, etc. Enjoy those grand-daughters!
