January 8, 1954 A Card from B to the Sorensens and The Portraits

"We have been awaiting  your reply to our last letter but know you are busy. We have done nothing of note since our last letter.  Always we wish you could come over for a cup of sake and piece of rice cake.  Enjoy your vacation period and write us all the news."

Diary Entry:  Jan. 8, 1954

"Hurried to get Bob off to school only to learn it was still vacation.  B had a class.  Dressed children up and went to Osaka.  First time Ann has worn a dress in about three months but wanted to get her picture painted.  Artists painting portraits for charity.  Children sat very quiet.  2 extra artists painted them & gave us the pictures as gifts.  Bob & Ann very proud.  Such a big audience gathered but all very quiet even when Ann fell off her chair."

  1. Oh gosh I remember my 2 children got ready for school on a Saturday and even when I told them what day it was they were so sure it was a school day :-)

  2. That is wonderful! They must have loved school, or you must have really had the morning routine instilled in them:-)
